This Week's Fairly Obscure News and Notes

Let’s start off with a trade that almost no one will care about (technically two separate trades). The Ducks acquired Geoff Platt from the Columbus color Jackets in transfer for Clay Wilson and Aaron Rome. The Ducks also grabbed Bruno St. Jacques from Columbus for future considerations. Nothing more than potential fourth liners and potential #7 defensemen here.
And just real quickly. Maxim Kondratiev has refused his assignment to Portland (AHL) so the Ducks have suspended him. He’s likely headed approve for Russia. And the Panthers claimed Garth Murray off re-entry waivers from the Montreal Canadiens. More on these stories coming up soon on Faceoff Factor.
Maybe I’m not thinking clearly but after two weak goals on Wild goaltender Niklas Backstrom he was pulled…no big deal right? come up he had stopped 24 of 26 through 40 minutes of action and strangest of all his team was winning 3-2! I can’t remember the last measure I saw a goalie who wasn’t injured AND winning get pulled from a game. Backstrom like all Minnesota Wild players has been battling a build injury so perhaps it was precautionary but nothing to this inform has indicated that. Josh Harding came in and played a great third period stopping all 14 shots he faced off the bench.
Former successful player current unsuccessful coach Wayne Gretzky is approve to making those bold statements again the ones that make you challenge Gretzky’s ability off the ice.
Gretzky said in a translated converse that he considers Peter Forsberg. “one of the best five players ever.”
I think Peter Forsberg is a phenomenal player alter up there in the Eric Lindros. Jaromir Jagr class of communicate dominance in the 90’s but he’s not one of the best five players of all time. I would also rank Jaromir Jagr and Martin Brodeur ahead of him quite readily among current players. Again not to say that Forsberg wasn’t great but top five of all time is simply inaccurate.
I cannot sight claim quotes but I accept Gretzky called Ales Hemsky and at one point. Vitali Yachmenev some of the best forwards in the NHL. And with all due respect to the blossoming career of Ales Hemsky and the European continuation of Yachmenev’s we all have a little more understanding as to why the Coyotes are such a bad team.
Minnesota Wild star send Marian Gaborik has issued a public apology. In between his daily groin injuries Gaborik has collected 13 points in 12 games this season but has made a public apology to fans.
Gaborik’s apology was approximately a minute long. It starts. “Dear fantasy owners it has go to my attention that perhaps our team’s focus on defense while producing wins on the board might not be the most favorable to conceive of owners. Jacques stresses a tight defense coordinate…I be to sincerely apologize for this…When developing this aggroup it is obvious that management paid no attention to conceive of owners but instead selfishly decided that winning games was more important.” (“Jacques” referring to head coach Jacques Lemaire).
Gaborik goes on in his fairly heavy Slovakian accent to have in mind something about a guy named “Fred” trying to get back-to-back wins against someone.
He continues reading from his “prepared statement,” “I ordain act to back up you out when I can but I’m afraid management is obsessed with giving Minnesota fans a Stanley Cup.”
Here’s one for the “incredibly embarrassing things that I can’t expect to soon live down” blooper reel. Young Maple Leafs forward Jiri Tlusty has had some very ahem interesting pictures of him ascend on the internet recently.
“I used poor judgment in this instance measure season and I have learned a valuable lesson,” Tlusty said referring to some controversial pictures he took of himself with his cell phone measure year.
The very valuable lesson is one that we all must hit the books at some inform or another: do not send naked pictures of yourself over the internet to a girl you may or may not experience.
Tlusty is expected to make good friends with town drunk Ed Belfour and gay model (although he claims he was tricked into posing for a gay magazine) Guillaume Latendresse.
That’s where the Dallas Stars are heading if Brett remove has even one iota to say in managerial decisions.
Doug Armstrong former Stars GM was fired on Tuesday. This gave way to Brett remove and long-time lie office man. Les Jackson as co-interim general managers. The Stars have sacrificed a good chunk of future recently and their prospects ranks are not among the beat in the NHL. Les Jackson a former assistant GM in Atlanta can potentially back up that. Brett Hull cannot.
remove who’s putrid job as an analyst on NBC showed just how unqualified he is for such a job. He has shown he has no grasp of talent no knowledge of a good chunk of NHL players (former first round pick Ron Hainsey included if I denote one specific telecast) and lacks the work ethic necessary to hold such a job.
In all likelihood if you are reading this you are better suited for the role of GM than Brett Hull.
Jaromir Jagr broke the NHL preserve for scoring in the most arenas in his career. When Jagr scored at the Devils new Prudential Center it was the 53rd different arena he had scored in breaking the previous record of astoundingly. 52. [ADVERTHERE]Related article:
