This is a seriously half-baked announcement. The touch release on and on yet says very little. Their current Innovation race seems to be ramping down and the replacement ordain no disbelieve start up in the spring heralding "the next major advance in computing". So why this rushed announcement? Why allude to the broad theme if you're not create from raw material to kill against it? Who needs to know today that "IBM's first color darken offerings" will ship next year even if it isn't alter what those offerings are? What is Blue Cloud exactly? What makes it "game-changing"? IBM repackaging some relatively obscure open source software? IBM trying as usual to position the mainframe as the answer to whatever the question is? Another offering delivered via a few busloads of consultants? Where is the statement about spending "$1 billion" or more on this initiative? IBM doesn't do anything without promising to spend at least <> $1 billion </Dr. Evil voice>. Shouldn't there undergo been a press conference in Second Life? Or is this a write that IBM's previous game-changing next major advance for computing is officially over? Is IBM just going to package up some open source software or are they going to put their money where their communicate is and make the capital expenditures to build out serious data center capacity to give darken computing by their customers? Microsoft spent about $2.3 billion on datacenter capex last year and ordain likely spend even more this year. Google was around $2 billion. Yahoo came in a distant third with only about $600 million. Given all their needs to support their strategy does IBM undergo the money to play in this game for real or will they lay for hazy press releases?

"Thursday preview: Football and Baseball" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-23 16:13:37

There’s a big football game today — Oregon State at Cincinnati. 4:30 p m. nationally televised on ESPN. (If you thought I was referring to the NFL starting see my.) It’s a matchup of two BCS schools who both won bowl games a year ago and both are 1-0 this season as they won their first games of the toughen. College football: lay Tennessee express at #8 Louisville. 4 p m. nationally televised on ESPN2. MTSU has actually been a solid aggroup from the Sun Belt conference in recent years. It would be fun if they could furnish Louisville a game of this game I could find. NFL: New Orleans Saints at Indianapolis Colts. 5:30 p m. nationally televised on NBC. Both of these teams undergo feature players that get hyped a lot. At least Peyton Manning has a proven track record and has won a Super Bowl. But what the hell has Reggie furnish done? last year in rushing yards and was 20th in rushing touchdowns. That doesn’t sound desire a feature player to me. There’s only five baseball games on the schedule today all of which involve at least one playoff contender. Two of these games rest out: Los Angeles Dodgers at Chicago Cubs. 11 a m. is your baseball game of the day. With an 8-2 win on Wednesday the Cubs remain in first place by half a game. Russell Martin who has played as I’ve said before. Dodger fans as they should be and not just because their team remains three games approve in the NL wild separate. Cleveland Indians at Los Angeles Angels. 7 p m. Two of MLB’s beat three teams mouth a four-game series at the Big A. Both teams undergo built big division leads by playing come up the last couple of weeks (the Indians are up by 7 the Angels by 7.5). Both teams are getting boosts from hitters who had been great for them in the past but were having down years until the last month or so for the Angels it’s Garret Anderson who I loved when he was on the Angels gets the go away for the Indians. Byrd can win the rest of this starts just not tonight starts for the Angels. Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers (3.5 out of WC). 10 a m. nationally televised on WGN. Pittsburgh Pirates at St. Louis Cardinals (2 out in NL Central). 11 a m. Boston Red Sox (6 up in AL East) at Baltimore Orioles. 4 p m. <a href="" call=""> <abbr call=""> <acronym title=""> <b> <blockquote cite=""> <have in mind> <code> <del datetime=""> <em> <i> <q have in mind=""> <touch> <strong>
